BD-1
offers a wide selection of landline, mobile
and broadband services and combined packages
to business and residential customers wanting
to save money and simplify their communications
needs from a single source.
It also sells mobile
phones with sensibly priced tariff packages
and provides VOIP connectivity.
For business, there
is an additional option to purchase data
backup, restore and recovery services. With
increasing numbers of companies exposed
to data theft and business interruption
following both internal and external cyber
attack, such services are increasingly becoming
an integral and important part of any commercial
disaster recovery plan.
Explaining the launch
of BD-1 and demonstrating his grasp of commercial
practicality, Harvey says the catalyst for
the new company was an initial desire to
provide current employees and customers
with a common communications facility.
“We have over
6,000 employees, most of who work remotely
at customer premises around the country
and often to quite tight time constraints,”
he says.
“Reliable communications
are essential if the various businesses
are to run smoothly and initially I was
looking for a common means of communication
with staff and between employees that we
could manage and control. It then seemed
practical to make this available to customers
as they play an integral part in the operation
as well.
“It was a natural
progression to see that customers might
want to use the same system to control their
own businesses, and if that was the case
I thought why not be commercial and make
the services available to the wider market.
“Of course,
there are many similar telco operators out
there, but the format of BD-1 makes it just
as competitive on price, the range of services
can compete with the best, and I would argue
that our relative size will enable a more
personal service. |
